HOW DO YOU HELP A FTSE 100 COMPANY CONNECT THEIR PURPOSE, CULTURE AND STRATEGY DURING A PANDEMIC?
This was the challenge Landsec set us, amid one of the most challenging and uncertain trading environments in recent history. To better adapt to this challenging business climate, Landsec needed to make significant organisational changes, from strategic focus through to how the business organised itself to deliver its goals. We identified that a consistent theme emerging amongst these changes was the organisation's purpose… ‘to create great experiences for people, now and in the future’.
We used Landsec’s purpose of creating great experiences for people as a connecting thread, bringing multiple elements of the engagement programme together. Using a distinct identity, this purpose was woven through a series of digital documents and events designed to communicate the core changes, including a Strategy on a Page, Cultural Blueprint, animating the refreshed
operating model and a Virtual town hall to launch these key assets and to bring them to life.
When addressing any form of cultural change we often see a fragmented approach, with multiple stakeholder groups and passionate individuals working away on localised activity. Our experience tells us that the chances of achieving the desired 'target culture' are greatly improved when the views of both the executive team and the wider business are brought together and connected to form a coherent approach and direction.
Landsec's Cultural Blueprint was built using this insight and brings together the individual and organisational foundations for a culture ‘where everyone can be at their best’ – this is essential for the organisation to both deliver its strategy and fulfil its purpose. Landsec will continue to deepen connections with their people through quarterly strategic engagement – informed by insight gathered during our annual culture report.
